The selections were made by publishers, nominating jurors, schoolchildren in Atlanta and Parents' Choice book editor Kemie Nix. "It's an annual list that intends to compete vigorously with TV, MTV and video games," the magazine said.
Nix says: "Books that strike flint in the minds and hearts of children, books that tickle their funny bones, that grab them by the emotions, that tell them something about their own lives and how they should live them are books kids go for and come back to." Among the winners:
