OBIT SKEEN, GRADY MARIN

SKEEN, Grady Marin, 82, of 640 Riverview Dr., Altavista, died Monday, December 13, 1993 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Jessie Cox Skeen. Born in Russell County, February 26, 1911, he was a son of the late Martin Luther Skeen and Cynthia Beatrice Jessee Skeen. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, G. Marvin Skeen Jr. and his wife, Jean Skeen, of Lynch Station; two daughters, Lyndell Skeen Yeatts and her husband, Larry E. Yeatts of Hollywood, Md., and Laura K. "Robin" Skeen and her husband, Frank A. "Chip" Harris, of Roanoke; one brother, Gaines Skeen; and eight sisters, Mrs. T. R. Chafin, Mrs. Woodrow Bevins, Mrs. Ben Powers, Mrs. Garland Worley, Mrs. Elmer Adams, Mrs. Willie Dean, Mrs. Oakley Dean and Mrs. Wayne Robinson, all of southwest Virginia; four grandchildren, Kim Skeen, Jason and Holly Yeatts, and Matthew Scott Harris. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Patric Fife at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn. The family will receive friends form 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Altavista, and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the American Cancer Society, Altavista Life Saving Crew or American Lung Association.
