IN SERVICE

Navy Seaman CHRISTOPHER M. MANN was recently awarded the Navy "E" Ribbon while serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, based in Norfolk.

Mann and other members of the crew earned the award for excellence in four departmental areas: maritime warfare; command and control; engineers and survivability; and logistics management.

Mann contributed significantly to the crew's achievements and was cited for outstanding professional accomplishments.

Mann joined the Navy in February.

He is the son of Barbara M. Stafford of Pearisburg and is a 1992 graduate of Giles High School.

Those recently completing special training include:

Navy Seaman Apprentice RANDALL B. BALES, son of Randall B. Bales of Pulaski and Elizabeth S. Dehart of Dublin, completed the Cryptology Technician Communications Course at Naval Technical Training Center Cory Station in Pensacola, Fla.

Marine Lance Cpl. CHRISTOPHER W. KEENE, son of Wanda F. Keene of Blacksburg and Roger W. Keene of Pulaski, completed Mountain Warfare Training at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, Calif.

Those recently completing basic training include:

Navy Seaman Recruit JASON A. HOLLAND, son of James E. Holland of Blacksburg, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Air Force Airman STACY R. CURRIE, son of Robert J. and Linda H. Currie of Christiansburg, graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Those recently reporting for Currie duty include:

Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class ERIK K. LOTT, son of John and Brenda Lott of Christiansburg, reported to the Coast Guard Reserve Training Center in Yorktown.
