OBIT O'DELL, MARJORIE BENNETT

O'DELL, Marjorie Bennett, 87, of Blacksburg formerly of Hurricane, W.Va. died Tuesday, December 14, 1993. She was a registered nurse, a graduate of Mt. Regis and of the University of Virginia in 1929. She devoted her life to caring for the needs of others including donating her body to medical science upon her death. She was born in Ringgold, Va. in 1906, the daughter of Mary Virginia and Robert Lee Dawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Clarence O'Dell; a daughter, Carolyn O'Dell Tennant; two sisters, Violet Dawson and Hattie Adkins; two brothers, Larry and Edward Dawson. She is survived by a son and daugther-in-law, Charles R. and Wilmoth C. O'Dell, Blacksburg; four grandchildren, David Tennant, Rolla, Mo., Douglas Tennant, Kaneohe, Hawaii, Mary Jane O'Dell Lee, Huntersville, N.C. and Leah O'Dell Wilmoth, Powhatan, Va.; seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Lula Dawson, Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Kathlene Morris, Logan, Utah; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Dawson, Chickamauga, Ga., Nellie Dawson RFD Chatham, Va. and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at her home church, Mount Vernon Baptist near Hurricane, W.Va. on Monday, December 27, 1993, 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Lee White who was her pastor, friend, counselor and former neighbor. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to The American Lung Association.
