RELIGION BRIEFS

\ CONNELLY MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH, Hershberger Road at Westside Boulevard Northwest, has scheduled its Christmas music program Sunday at 7 p.m. It will include selections by the Adult and Children's choirs with handbells, solos and a nativity tableau.

\ SUMMERDEAN CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN'S CHANCEL CHOIR will perform a cantata, "The First Light," Sunday during the 11 a.m. service at the church, 6604 Plantation Road. At 7 p.m., children of the congregation will hold a program of pantomime, music and narration.

\ THE ADULT CHOIR OF HUNTINGTON COURT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will sing a cantata, "Celebrate the Child," Sunday at 11 a.m. At 4 p.m., children's choirs will present a musical, "Around the World It's Christmas." The church is on Williamson Road at Huntington Boulevard.

\ FAITH ALLIANCE CHURCH, 7505 Barrens Road, has scheduled a cantata, "An Old Fashioned Christmas" for Sunday at 7 p.m. It will be sung by the Adult Choir, directed by Sharon S. Gibson.

\ OAKLAND BAPTIST CHURCH, Roundhill Avenue at Oakland Boulevard Northwest, will have a musical presentation, "City of Light," Sunday at 7 p.m. Children of the congregation also will sing carols in the Williamson Road neighborhood on Friday beginning at 6 p.m.

\ AT AIRLEE COURT BAPTIST CHURCH, 4827 Delray St. N.W., a musical drama, "Christmas Is Calling You Home," is planned for Sunday at 7 p.m. A nursery will be staffed.

\ FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST, SCIENTIST, 1155 Overland Road S.W., is presenting a free lecture tonight at 8 by Kay R. Olson, a member of the church's Board of Lectureship. Her topic will be "As Did the Shepherds and the Angels, So Let Us Greet the Christ Child."

\ CHRISTMAS MUSIC by four adult and youth choirs will be sung Sunday at 10:45 a.m. at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church, 3591 Windsor Road S.W. Both choral and handbell music will be included. More music is scheduled at the two Christmas Eve services beginning at 5 and 10:30 p.m.

\ "JESUS, THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS" is the theme of a choral program to be held Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:30 at Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 2014 Memorial Ave. S.W. Gary Fulsebakke is director. Both handbell and choral music will be presented. On Sunday night Nancy Glisson, the current Miss Virginia, will be a guest.

\ GREENE MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 402 Second St. S.W., has scheduled its annual Festival of Christmas Music for Sunday at 11 a.m. Among the new pieces to be heard is "This Christmastide," a work sung by the American Boychoir for an overflow audience on Dec. 5. Greene Memorial's choirs also will perform at the Christmas Eve services at 5 and 10:40 p.m.

\ JERUSALEM BAPTIST CHURCH, 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W., has planned a candlelight service Sunday at 6 p.m. All choirs will perform, and the Rev. J. Eugene Young, pastor, will be narrator.

\ A FEAST OF CAROLS, an informal program for family singing with instrumental selections, will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, South Jefferson at McClanahan. Following a reception, youth of the church will carol in the South Roanoke neighborhood.

\ MEMBERS OF OAK GROVE CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 2138 McVitty Road S.W., will have community caroling Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. On Sunday, at 5 p.m., the youth and children of the congregation will present a play, "The Story." On Christmas Eve, the church will sponsor a candle lighting service at 6:30 p.m.

THE SANCTUARY CHOIR will sing a cantata, "The Christmas Legacy," Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Belmont Baptist Church, 825 Stewart Ave. S.E.
