W.VA. WOMAN DIES IN 3-VEHICLE ACCIDENT

A West Virginia woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. 11 in Pulaski County Friday night.

Ruby E. McGhee, 69, of Yukon, W.Va., was pronounced dead at the scene when the four-wheel-drive vehicle in which she was riding collided with a dump truck, according to state Trooper L.W. Findley.

The dump truck, driven by Bennett Mann, 34, of Dublin, was forced into oncoming traffic after it struck a car going the wrong way on the highway, Findley said. Mann's truck left the road and came to rest on top of the four-wheel-drive operated by Robert Rutherford, 42, of Radford, Findley said.

The car was driven by Catherine M. York of Peters Creek Road in Roanoke, Findley said.

York, Mann and Rutherford were taken to local hospitals with injuries.

Rutherford was listed in stable condition with a leg injury and a head wound Friday night, according to a spokesperson at Radford Community Hospital.

Pulaski Community Hospital declined Friday night to release the conditions of those injured in the wreck.

Findley said York has been charged with reckless driving.

McGhee and Rutherford were wearing seatbelts, while Mann and York were not, Findley said.
