OBIT SOWERS, GORDON E.

SOWERS, Gordon E., 83, of 4403 Old Virginia Street, Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 17, 1993. He was a member of Patterson Memorial Grace Brethren Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Allie Clement Sowers and one son, James E. Sowers. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Barry McCarty, Vinton, Irene and Clarence Weddle, Vinton, Louise and Lewis Creasey, Moneta; one son and daughter-in-law, Everette and Kathryn Sowers, Vinton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Larma S. Blankenship and Elizabeth S. Hodges, both of Roanoke; one brother, Lester Sowers, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 20 with Pastor Don Eshelman officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home of Everette and Kathryn Sowers at 1116 Hallihurst Avenue, Vinton.
