OBIT SOUTHARD, HERMAN JOHN

SOUTHARD, Herman John, ("Jake"), of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Thursday afternoon, December 16, 1993, in Baptist Hospital, after an extended illness. Mr. Southard was born in Rockingham County, the son of John S. and Minnie Angel Southard. He attended the Unversity of North Carolina and graduated from Atlantic Christian College. He retired from Western Electric Co. and was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Ann Moore Southard, of the home; one son, Alan John Southard, Winston-Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Jayne S. Hodges, Raleigh, N.C., Suzanne Corbin, Goldsboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Katy and Allison Southard, Heather and Aaron Hodges, Shannon Corin. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frances Crescenzo, Reidsville, N.C., Mrs. Thelma Driscoll, Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, Dr. Floyd James Southard, Stokesdale, N.C., Richard Southard, Sarasota, Fla., Dr. Curtis Southard, Little Rock, Ark. Vogler's Funeral Home on Reynolda Road is in charge of services. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Forsyth Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parkway Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crisis Control, Parkway Presbyterian Church Building Fund, or to the charity of your choice.
