THESE KINDERGARTNERS LEARN VALUE OF GIVING

Stephanie Wise gave her kindergarten pupils at Crystal Spring Elementary School a special gift this year: She taught them the concept of giving.

Originally, Wise and her room mothers had planned for the students to exchange gifts with one another. But rather than receiving presents, the class decided to give to the Good Neighbors Fund.

The students discussed the importance of helping people who are less fortunate during the holiday season. "The children are really excited about this," Wise said.

"The kids are all so lucky to have so much," said room mother Debbie Dorsey. "It's better for them to give to someone else than to have another toy."

Six-year-old Maggee Dorsey and her classmates are glad to help the needy. "We hope they are happy and they have a good Christmas," she said.

Checks should be made payable to Good Neighbors Fund and mailed to Roanoke Times & World-News, P.O. Box 1951, Roanoke 24008.

Gifts cannot be earmarked for any particular individual or family. Gifts are tax-deductible.
