OBIT-BOWLING, DORA BOYER
BOWLING, Dora Boyer, 69, of Pearisburg, died Thursday night, December 16,
1993 at Radford Community Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Bowling was born
on September 26, 1924 in Hinton, W. Va. and was the daughter of the late Homer
Cecil and Theresa Talbert Boyer. Mrs. Bowling was a member of the Pearisburg
Baptist Church and a past Worthy Matron of the Pearis Chapter #124 Order of
the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, Carol Alton Bowling Sr.,
Pearisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Connie B. and Steve Strasser of
Enoree, S.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Carroll A. Bowling Jr. and Judy
Bowling of Dublin, Va.; six grandchildren, Richard Anderson, Tina Pressley,
Curry Bowling, Mindi Anderson, Natalie Quesenberry, Cheryl Bowling; and two
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at the
Pearisburg Baptist Church with Rev. Wilson Conwell and Rev. Phil Taylor
officiating. Interment will follow at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The
family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg from 6 to
8 p.m. Saturday evening. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 8 p.m. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pearisburg Baptist Church or the
American Cancer Society, Giles County Unit, P. O. Box 522, Pearisburg, Va.
