OBIT WILLIS, LONZA ERNEST
WILLIS, Lonza Ernest, 95, of Roanoke, died Sunday, December 19, 1993. He
served in the Army in Europe during World War I, in the 42nd Rainbow Division.
During World War II, he served as a Marine MP in Washington, D.C. He was
retired from the American Viscose and the City of Roanoke. Mr. Willis was a
member of the Preston Oaks Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his
wife, Mrs. Rosie A. Willis. Surviving are a son, Richard Willis of Vinton; two
daughters, Mrs. Dorothy W. English of Vinton and Mrs. Helen W. Clinebell of
Roanoke; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Violet C. Munsey of Roanoke; seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Taylor Janney of Roanoke.
Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel, 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the
Rev. James R. Millsaps officiating. Entombment will be in Sherwood Chapel
Garden mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday at Oakeys North Chapel.
