OBIT-ARTHUR, WELFORD HILL, ("WAHOO")

ARTHUR, Welford Hill, ("Wahoo"), 64, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 1993, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born August 27, 1929, in Bedford County, a son of the late Walter H. Arthur and Winnifre Crouch Arthur. He was a retired employee of Frank Chervan, a member of the Palestine Baptist Church, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #1897. He is survived by his wife, Odelle Witt Arthur; a son, John Hill Arthur, Bedford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda A. and Johnny Maxfield, Betty Jo A. and Kenneth Maxfield, both of Bedford, Alice A. and Gerald Foutz, Vinton; five sisters, Inez A. Krantz, Dorothy A. Hancock, Arlene A. Ferguson, all of Huddleston, Mildred A. Gardner, Gaynelle A. Morris, both of Bedford; two brothers, Claude Arthur, Roanoke, Allen Arthur, Farmington, Delaware; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 23, 1993, at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by Dr. Michael DuVal and the Rev. Wayne Murphy. Interment will follow in the Suck Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
