HOT LINE ESTABLISHED FOR RADIATION VICTIMS

The Department of Energy announced a toll-free telephone number Thursday for people who think they may have been used in federally supported radiation experiments. Anyone who has information about medical or scientific radiation experiments conducted on humans is urged to call.

The number is (800) 493-2998, and will be answered 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday by experts from the department's office of environment, safety and health.

The number was established as part of the department's effort to learn more about secret human experimentation conducted by the federal nuclear energy program in the 1950s and 1960s.
