The Oskhosh, Wis., company said the candles, in the shape and colors of Nutcracker soldiers, have been the subject of two recent consumer reports of abnormal and potentially dangerous burning.

\ Ford Motor Co. has recalled 344,800 vehicles for free repairs of defects.
The recalls announced Thursday are for 22,000 of its 1992 and 1993 heavy-duty trucks and buses that have diesel engines with in-line fuel injection pumps.
Two springs in the throttle linkage could break, causing the engine speed to increase and not return to idle position. Braking or disengaging the transmission will stop the vehicle. No accidents or injuries have been reported because of the problem.
Also, 3,800 of its 1993 Mercury Capris with automatic transmissions risk engine-compartment fires. A hose could disconnect from the transmission, causing transmission fluid to leak. Ford said it knows of 17 fires but no accidents or injuries.
And 319,000 of the company's 1988 Escorts with 1.9-liter engines were recalled to correct an emissions problem.
\ General Motors Corp. is recalling about 504,000 1992 and 1993 model Chevrolet Cavaliers, Corsicas and Berettas; Buick Centurys and Oldsmobile Cutlass Cieras with the base 2.2-liter L4 engine, to repair torn intake manifold gaskets.
The recall is not safety-related. But if the intake manifold gasket is torn, a driver will notice increasingly rough engine operation. GM said it has redesigned the gasket to eliminate the possibility of tearing.
Owners are being notified of the recall. Repairs will be made for free.
American Suzuki Motor Corp. is recalling 28,699 Swift cars to install a reinforcement of the hood latch striker plate to preclude the chance of the hood flying up. All 1989 to 1992 Swifts and 1993 Swift passenger cars manufactured before early 1993 are affected.
GM on Wednesday recalled 460,000 Geo Metros made from 1989 through 1993 for the same reason. Suzuki made the Geo Metro for GM.
