WHEELER-JOHNSON

Tracey Leigh Johnson and Joseph Allen Wheeler were married Sunday, December 5, 1993, at 4:00 p.m. at Huntington Court United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alton Washington officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Donnie Johnson, Lynchburg, Va., and Donna Johnson, Roanoke, Va., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Johnson, Buchanan, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. John Fitzgerald, Jr., Roanoke. Claude Johnson, of Buchanan, Va., is the great-grandfather of the bride.

The bridegroom is the son of Gary Wheeler and JoAnn Whitehorn, both of Roanoke, Va., and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Wheeler, of Stewartsville, and Charlotte V. Newman, of Maryland. Ms. Vergie Ballingee, of Hinton, W.Va., is the great-grandmother of the groom.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Kelly Tuck, best friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Vanessa Wheeler, sister of the groom, Robn Underwood, cousin of the bride, Stephanie Hallis, Stephanie Carroll, Kimberly Richards, and Sheila Bankert, all friends of the bride. Myra and Mary Bankert served as junior bridesmaids. Christan Akers was flowergirl.

The father of the groom served as best man. Groomsmen were James Wheeler, brother of the groom, Christopher Johnson, brother of the bride, Robert Crouch, Jr., cousin of the groom, John Richards, Brian Heins, and Mike Pearcy, friends of the groom. Joshua Tiller was the ringbearer. Rick Underwood, uncle of the bride, attended the guestbook.

Video was provided by Robert Dallas and Christopher Stanley. Belinda Harris played the organ. Soloists were Elizabeth Reed and Bruce Gregory. Piano by Douglas Crouse. John L. Fitzgerald and Georgia Gillespie provided music during the reception. Serving at the reception were Deborah Akers and Sara Brant. The buffet style reception, provided by Jane Pendleton of Wedding Elegance, had a Christmas theme.

The bridal gown had a Queen Ann neckline with long sleeves. The bodice and skirt with cutouts covered with Schiffli embroidering, seed pearls and sequins led to a cathedral train. The bride carried a bouquet of white silk roses and orchids. After a brief honeymoon trip, the couple will make their home in Roanoke, Va.
