VAUGHAN, James R., ("Jimmy"), 86, of Salem, passed away Friday, December
24, 1993. He was a retired engineer with Norfolk & Western Railway. Mr.
Vaughan was a member of Virginia Heights Lodge #324 A.F.&A.M., Webber High
Twelve Lodge #282 A.F.&A.M. and Marshall Lodge #39 A.F.&A.M. of Lynchburg, a
32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple. Mr.
Vaughan is survived by his wife, May Foster Vaughan of Salem; sons, James R.
Vaughan Jr., Isle of Palm, S.C., Reginald L. Vaughan, Occuquan, Va., Ronald L.
Vaughan, Spokane, Wash., Tommy Vaughan, Dumphries, Va.; daughter, Shirley A.
Vaughan, Roanoke; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 1993 at 11 a.m. at Oakey's South
chapel with the Dr. Jerry O. Campbell Jr. officiating. Interment with Masonic
rites by Virginia Heights Lodge #39 A.F.&A.M. will follow in Blue Ridge
Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to
the American Cancer Society. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel Monday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
