OBIT-KEY, BENJAMIN HOLCOMB, ("BENNIE")
KEY, Benjamin Holcomb, ("Bennie"), 83, of Bedford, died Friday, December
24, 1993 in a Roanoke nursing home. He was born in Bedford County on February
27, 1910 a son of the late Thomas Bernard Key and Rachel Owen Wilkerson Key.
He was retired from the Bedford Dry Cleaners and was a member of the Main
Street Unted Methodist Church and the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Brown Key and one daughter, Lois K.
Gray. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy K. Overstreet, Roanoke, Nancy K.
Heap, Kingsport, Tenn.; one brother, Hugh W. Key, Bedford; one sister, Lucille
K. Hicks, Roanoke; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A graveside
service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 1993 in the Greenwood
Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass Jr. officiating. Memorials may be
made to the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department or the Bedford Life Saving Crew.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Carder-Tharp
Funeral Home, Bedford.
