GLENVAR CONTROLS CARLISLE 86-62

Glenvar used a 22-6 second quarter to take control and went on to defeat Carlisle 86-62 on Monday night in the first round of the North Cross Holiday Classic basketball tournament.

Glenvar meets Auburn in the second round at 8:30 p.m. today. Carlisle faces Roanoke Catholic at 5:30 p.m.

Frank Reed scored 22 points, and the Eagles built a 45-15 halftime lead en route to a rout of the Rockets in the first round of the North Cross Holiday Classic.

Auburn advances to meet Glenvar, an 86-62 winner over Carlisle, at 8:30 p.m. today.

\ Floyd County 78\ Roanoke Catholic 54

Jason Light had a triple-double - 33 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks - to lead the Buffaloes past the Celtics in the first round of the North Cross Holiday Classic.

Floyd County faces the host school, which had a first-round bye in the seven-team tournament, at 7 p.m. today. The Celtics will take on Carlisle at 5:30 p.m.
