OBIT PALMER, JOHN DAVID
PALMER, John David, 66, of Troutville, died at home Sunday, December 26,
1993, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Palmer was a member of the
Shenandoah Cut-Ups Blue Grass group, with Don Reno and Red Smiley, who
performed on WDBJ-tv for 10 years, beginning in the 50's. Mr. Palmer was a
member of the Boone Masonic Lodge #247 A.F. & A.M. of Troutville and a member
of the Bethlehem Methodist Church, Union, S.C. Mr. Palmer is survived by his
devoted wife, Lucille Palmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Jimmy
Treynor; a son, Tim Palmer, all of Troutville; one brother, Mack Palmer; two
sisters, Myrtle P. Moss and Katie P. Garner, all of Union, S.C. Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 1993, 11 a.m., at the Rader
Troutville Chapel, with Mr. Mike Hogan officiating. Interment will follow in
the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by
Boone Masonic Lodge #247 A.F. & A.M. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
at the funeral home.
