OBIT GARNER, BERTELLE SLAYDON

GARNER, Bertelle Slaydon, 86, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 28, 1993. She is survived by her sons, Drexell C. Garner, James E. Garner, both of Roanoke; sisters, Esther Garrett, Axton, Irene Compton, Martinsville, Marie Smith, St. Joseph, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Jessie Carter, Orlando, Fla., Margaret Dowdy, Johnson City, Tenn.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Valley View Wesleyan Church 2 p.m. Friday, by the Rev. Raymond Powers and the Rev. Randy Garner, with burial in the Garner Family Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Roanoke. The family will receive friends Thursday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
