NEXT FED NOMINEE A CLINTON ADVISER

White House economist Alan Blinder is likely to be nominated vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, a senior administration official said Monday.

Blinder was an economist at Princeton University before joining the administration last year as one of the three members of the president's Council of Economic Advisers.

He also wrote a regular column for Business Week magazine. He once characterized himself as an "inflation dove" and holds views that make him appear less hard-line in fighting inflation than some Republican-appointed Fed members.
