STEPHEN MILES of Roanoke recently was named Salesman of the Year for 1993 by Finn Construction and Window Systems Inc.

Miles also was chosen as a member of the President's Club and received the Bristol Cup award from Winchester Industries.

\ UNITED WAY OF THE ROANOKE VALLEY has named the following winners in its 10th annual Employee Communication Contest: WDBJ, employee publications category, for a United Way information pamphlet; Crestar Bank, audio-visual programs category, for a video recognizing employee participation; Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, campaign communications category, for its "United Way Week"; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia, special events category, for its version of "Let's Make a Deal" and the photography category, for color photographs of its campaign kickoff.

\ AL WOOLDRIDGE of Salem Tools has been named president of the Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce.

Other officers for this year are: Frank Longaker, National Business College, vice president; Phyllis Sutphin, Southwest Virginia Savings Bank, treasurer; Judy Griesenbrock, secretary; Steve Smeltzer, Blue Ridge Office Systems, past president.

Division vice presidents are: Mark Hancock, First Virginia Bank, community betterment; Rick Poplstein, economic development; John Chambliss, Roanoke County assistant administrator, legislative affairs; Steve Smeltzer, Blue Ridge Office systems, organizational development.

\ ROBYN MORGAN and DAWN SIMPKINS, both employees at Kemper National Insurance Companies, recently received certificates from the Insurance Institute of America for successfully completing an introduction to claims course and a national examination.

The institute is an independent non-profit organization offering educational programs and professional certification to people in the property-liability insurance business.

\ DR. RAJIV JAIN, chief of staff at the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center, recently was appointed associate dean for academic affairs at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

In addition to his job at the VA, Jain will work with UVa students who are residents at the Salem hospital.

\ LORICE BENNETT has been named Employee of the Year for 1993 by Camelot Hall Nursing Home in Salem.

Bennett, a certified nursing assistant, has worked for the nursing home since 1987. She is a graduate of William Fleming High School and received her nursing training at Virginia Western Community College.

\ JEFF NORMAN of Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies and BOB FETZER of Building Specialists Inc. won awards from the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association Inc.

Norman was named Associate of the Year, and Fetzer was named Builder of the Year.
