SPECIAL VOTER SIGN-UP HOURS SCHEDULED

Registrar's offices in Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem have announced special voter registration hours for the May 3 elections.

Any qualified Virginia resident who has not registered to vote or any resident who has moved within the state may register by the April 4 deadline.

Salem voters may register at the registrar's office at 19 E. Clay St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Roanoke County voters may register at the registrar's office at 5204 Bernard Drive, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Roanoke County voters also may register at the Vinton Library at 800 E. Washington Ave. March 24, 5 to 8 p.m.; March 31, 5 to 8 p.m.; April 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Roanoke voters may register at the registrar's office in Room 109 of the Municipal North building (old courthouse) 215 Church Ave. S.W. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through April 4, and on April 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The city also will take registrations on March 23 and 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Williamson Road Library, 3837 Williamson Road N.W.

On March 24 and 31 from 5 to 8 p.m., registrations will be taken at the Main Library, 706 S. Jefferson St.; Jackson Park Library, 1101 Morningside St. S.E.; Raleigh Court Library, 2112 Grandin Road S.W.; and Melrose Library, 2607 Salem Turnpike N.W.

Other dates and locations for Roanokers to register to vote are:

March 12 - from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; No. 13 Fire Station, 1815 Peters Creek Road N.W.

March 19 - from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Harris Teeter, Towers Shopping Center.

March 26 - from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Valley View Mall, lower level.

March 28 - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Gainsboro Library, 15 Patton Ave. N.W.:

March 31 and April 1 - from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Division of Motor Vehicles, Crossroads Mall.

April 2 - from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Registrar's office, and the Main; Jackson Park, Raleigh Court, Melrose, and Williamson Road libraries.
