BRIEFLY PUT . . .

OFTEN THIS winter we've noted how neighborly and helpful folks can be when the sleet is flying.

We've acknowledged nature's awesome beauty - the delicate design of frozen water encasing every limb, branch and twig of every tree in sparkling crystal - demanding that we pay it tribute even as it breaks electrical connections and, on slick sidewalks, threatens to cause our own limbs to snap.

We've urged perseverance even as heat and lights go off and classes close. We've built about as much chin-up character as we can stand for one winter. The power is out again.
