The last few households without power - five days after Ice Storm II. By Monday afternoon, there were 213 of them, according to the Appalachian Power Co.
About 205 were in Floyd County, with a handful in Pulaski and Montgomery counties, according to Glenda Wohlford, Apco administrative assistant
Most, Wohlford said, were victims of the individual line-deprived variety; that is, their power remained off because lines leading specifically to one or two homes were down.
"That's why it goes so slow, when you're picking up individual customers," Wohlford said.
Apco crews were still working overtime Monday, Wohlford said, fixing lines, cutting trees and in some places digging by hand 5-foot holes for poles that were inaccessible by truck.
Apco hopes to have the remaining customers turning on the lights by today, if not sooner, Wohlford said.
