HIGHLANDERS NOTCH UPSET IN BASEBALL

It was the first home loss of the season for the nationally-ranked Gamecocks (15-2).

Travis Toms came on in relief after the Gamecocks opened the ninth inning with consecutive hits. He induced a double-play grounder and struck out the last batter for his first save.

Radford scored all its runs in the first four innings off loser Jim Stoops (0-2). The Highlanders were helped by four South Carolina errors.

Alex Vaxmonsky and Aaron Pasko had two hits apiece for the Highlanders (3-3).
