CRANBERRY JUICE MAY HELP FIGHT INFECTION

Harvard doctors have turned folklore into science, conducting the first large-scale controlled study to confirm that cranberry juice lowers a woman's risk of urinary tract infections.

Dr. Jerry Avorn tested the effectiveness of 10 ounces of cranberry juice consumed daily over six months in a group of 153 elderly women. The study showed that those drinking cranberry juice had a greater than 50 percent reduction in bacteria in the urine.

For generations, cranberry juice has been the home remedy for preventing urinary infections.
