Food Lion Inc. and CBL & Associates Properties Inc. said they will expand three Food Lion supermarkets in CBL's shopping centers in the Roanoke Valley. CBL, a Chattanooga, Tenn., real estate company, said it will add 10,140 square feet to the Food Lion at Wildwood Plaza in Salem, incorporating space formerly used by a drug store. Also, it will add 5,280 square feet to the Food Lion at Valley Commons in Salem and 6,512 square feet to the store in Bennington Plaza, Roanoke. Each project will add deli and bakery departments and expand the meat and produce areas.

Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. - Louisville, Ky., parent of Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem - and Rapides Regional Medical Center said Tuesday they have agreed to develop a partnership to create an integrated health-care delivery system in Central Louisiana. Terms were not disclosed. The venture, named Central Louisiana Healthcare System, will include five hospitals operated by the two companies.
