\ THREE UNITED METHODIST PARISHES, First of Salem, Cave Spring and Greene Memorial, have begun raising funds to erect three Habitat for Humanity houses during a major Habitat drive in the summer. The houses will be on a tract on Kellogg Avenue Northwest. Each church must provide $16,000 and sufficient volunteers to build a house. The occupants, who will be members of a working family with limited income, also will help with the construction.
\ BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP, a women's interdenominational study of Scripture, has developed a new course, The Life of Moses, which will begin in September. \ THE REV. HARRIET BAUMEISTER begins her work March 20 as interim minister of Unity of Roanoke Valley. Before being ordained as a Unity minister in 1981, she taught classes in church doctrine and served as an alcoholism and drug counselor after taking graduate work at the University of Utah. She also served a permanent pastorate before entering temporary work. Following the 11 a.m. service, a potluck welcoming lunch will be held.
\ MISSION WORK IN INDIA sponsored by Vinton Baptist Church has resulted in two growing congregations in the south India area. A team representing the church recently returned from India and reported that two buildings and a childrens' home have been constructed by volunteers from the Roanoke Valley. Future goals are to support new church development in the city of Kottayam with an English-speaking congregation as well as to encourage a Baptist group on a rural tea plantation. The trip cost $12,400 with the funds raised by members of the Vinton church.
\ BELMONT BAPTIST CHURCH, which has been studying its renewal of mission for several weeks in a Sunday night series, will hold a potluck meal Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. Steve Allsbrook, a member of the staff of the Virginia Baptist General Board in Richmond, will be the guest leader. Allsbrook's work includes helping inner city congregations focus on their most effective kinds of ministry.
\ AWAKENING, a series of pre-Easter spiritual renewal services, will be held March 20-23. The services, sponsored by Roanoke Valley Churches of the Brethren, will be held at Central Church in downtown Roanoke nightly at 7:15. The Rev. Leland Wilson, developer of a new church in Dover, Del., will preach.
\ BONSACK BAPTIST CHURCH, 4845 Cloverdale Road, has free tickets available for an Easter pageant, "A Story to Remember." The pageant will be held at 7 p.m. April 1-3 with a matinee on April 2 at 3 p.m. A nursery will be staffed. Call 977-5701 for more information.
\ A DISASTER WAGON, a van equipped to feed victims of floods, storms, fires and other emergencies, is being put into service by the Virginia Men's Department of Southern Baptists. Volunteers who will use the wagon will be trained April 25-26 when the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association meets at Melrose Church.
