The $100 million football deal the "Conference of 12" struck with ABC and Liberty Sports could swell to even greater sums if the league decides to have a championship game.

No doubt, more television millions would flow into wherever the expanded league's headquarters are going to be. If it comes to that, look for one network to be given a full opportunity to secure broadcast rights.

It's a partnership that gives the Big Eight and its four incoming members from the Southwest Conference one of the most unusual arrangements in college sports.

The deal includes guaranteed exposure for women's sports as well and was being lauded by most - but not all - of the Big Eight's most prominent individuals.
