LAWN AND GARDEN SHOW TO FEATURE MORE THAN 175 BOOTHS, DISPLAYS

More than 175 booths and displays will be featured at the third annual Lawn-Garden & Flowers Show, March 18-20 at the Salem Civic Center.

Among the highlights of the show will be the display of entries in a design contest for retail florist and garden clubs; a floral design symposium on March 19, led by Mark S. Newcomb, floral designer at The Homestead in Hot Springs; and numerous workshops led by local gardening and horticulture experts, including John Arbogast, agricultural extension agent for Roanoke and author of the Dear John column that appears in the Roanoke Times & World-News.

On March 18, "Green Day," visitors will be admitted for free if they bring in two or more aluminum cans or a stack of newspapers. Regular admission is $3 for adults.

Show hours are: March 18: 4-9 p.m.; March 19: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; and March 20: noon-6 p.m.
