3 PULASKI COUNTY SITES OPEN FOR DEBRIS DUMPING

The debris can be left at Loving Field in Pulaski, the Dublin Lions Field or Ingles Mountain Landfill from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Loving Field and the Lions Field will also be open for debris from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Both will be closed to further debris after Sunday to allow time for burning the accumulated brush.

The New River Resource Authority will develop a plan for reopening sites for storm debris at its meeting WednesdayMarch16. Announcements as to the longer-term sites will be made Thursday.

Curb and roadside pickup of debris is proceeding slowly in Pulaski County. It may take several months to complete.

Citizens can speed the process by taking as much debris as possible to the weekend sites, or directly to the Ingles Mountain landfill weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Local governing bodies for the county and towns of Pulaski and Dublin are encouraging people not to dispose of waste anywhere near stream banks. Debris washed into stream channels will dam up at bridges and other structures and could cause flooding.

The Pulaski County Public Service Authority Board of Directors will meet Monday March14 to discuss services for PSA customers regarding storm debris. Currently, the PSA staff is not equipped to pick up large piles of storm debris. The towns of Pulaski and Dublin are picking up debris within town limits.
