Stolle, a former policeman-turned-lawyer-turned politician, said he plans to make a decision by the end of the month.
"I haven't decided what to do," said Stolle, who said he has been approached by "a number of people" and has talked about his bid with Gov. George Allen. "Up to now, it's been a campaign about personalities rather than issues."
Stolle said he has yet to discuss the idea with his family, and needs to talk with party leaders and potential donors before deciding whether to run.
But he said he is not concerned that a number of Republicans are already signing up to attend the convention, many of them recruited by either North, the Iran-Contra figure, or Miller, a former budget chief for Ronald Reagan.
Stolle said he believes many Republicans are tepid about their current choices and that the number of people signing up to attend the June nominating convention is off about 60 percent from last year.
`I would not get in the race to be a spoiler," Stolle said. `If I get in it would be to win."
