RICHMOND HOMICIDES MATCH RECORD PACE

The number of homicide deaths in the city has reached 33 this year, tying the number killed in the same period in 1992, which was a record-breaking year for homicides.

The count of Richmond's homicide dead through Friday is 10 ahead of this time last year.

The three latest victims were found slain within a 12-hour span between Thursday and Friday, bringing the week's victim total to nine, and the month's to 11.

While arrests have been made in five of this year's murders, no suspects have been charged in the seven most recent slayings.

The latest three victims all had been shot in the head. One was found in a van, one on the street next to a vehicle and one in his residence. - Associated Press
