ALEXANDRIA MAN TO CHALLENGE ROBB

An Alexandria man has announced his independent candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Charles Robb.

Herb Kirstein, an Alexandria author and former CIA agent, said he won't solicit campaign contributions, because "selling votes is deceptively called fund raising."

In addition to his work with the CIA, Kirstein has been a member of the Senate staff and worked for the Department of Health and Human Services.
