Competing this year:
Mary Dawn Edwards, 21, a senior at Virginia Tech majoring in sociology, plans to attend law school. Her talent presentation will be a jazz dance medley to music from the 1950s and 1960s.
Jodi Skurupey, 20, is a sophomore at New River Community College in the general studies program. She would like to pursue a modeling career. In the talent competition, she'll sing a Lorrie Morgan tune, "On My Knees."
Danielle Irene Marrone, 19, is a Virginia Tech sophomore majoring in nutrition and chemistry who wants to go into sports medicine. She will play the flute in the talent event.
Karen McNew, 19, a sophomore communications studies major at Virginia Tech, hopes to pursue a career in broadcast news when she graduates. She will dance in the talent competition.
Allison Rose, an 18-year-old freshman at Radford University, will sing in the talent competition. She's majoring in communications at Radford.
Stephanie Leigh Lytton, 19, a New River Community College student studying biology, plans to transfer to Virginia Tech or Radford University. She will put on a clogging performance for the talent competition.
Traci Leigh Basham, a 20-year-old sophomore at Virginia Western Community College, eventually plans to teach English in middle school. She'll sing the Patsy Cline tune "Sweet Dreams" for her talent presentation.
Anne Barksdale, 23, is a senior at Virginia Tech majoring in family and child development. She plans to become a clinical psychologist. For her talent presentation, she'll do a monologue featuring the poetry of Ntozke Shange.
Erin Davis Parker, 17, a senior at Christiansburg High School, hopes to attend the John Tyler School of Mortuary Science in Richmond after she graduates. She will clog in the talent event.
Shannon Renee Obenchain, 19, has completed her freshman year at Radford University and plans a career in marketing management. She'll sing "Behind His Last Good- Bye" in the talent competition.
