Meeting Thursday on teen tobacco use

PULASKI - A national town meeting about preventing tobacco use by young people will be held on March 24 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Extension Education Room of the Pulaski County Administration Building, 143 Third St.

The presentation includes Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders' report on smoking and health and information about the link between smoking and other drug use, the impact of tobacco advertising on young people, new school guidelines and programs and other issues concerning youth access to tobacco.

Registration is not required. For more information, call Tara Jankoski at (703) 857-7411.

Dinosaurs' death topic of talk

RADFORD - A free lecture on "Death of the Dinosaurs: Asteroid or Volcano?" will be presented by Virginia Tech geology professor Dewey McLean on Tuesday in the Heth Commonwealth Room at Radford University at 7 p.m.

McLean will present why his theory that extensive volcanic activity 65 million years ago propelled the decline of the dinosaurs is better than the popular theory of an asteroid striking the earth.
