LOA NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR SEVERAL PROGRAMS

The League of Older Americans, the area agency on aging, is seeking volunteers for several of its programs.

The Foster Grandparent program needs people who are 60 or older, retired on a limited income, in good health and interested in helping out in child care facilities and schools. Participants will receive a non-taxed stipend, travel assistance, lunch and other benefits for volunteering. Previous applicants need not apply. For more information, call 345-0451.

The Senior Companions program needs volunteers in Botetourt and Craig Counties and the Alleghany Highlands. The program offers participants a chance to help older adults in their neighborhood with in-home services and companionship. For more information, call Jennifer at 884-2892.

Meals-on-Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals to homebound elderly. Drivers are also needed to transport older persons to doctors and appointments. Drivers are required to have a car and a good driving record. For more information, call Amanda at 345-0451.

Magicians, musicians and others are needed to present programs of interest to senior groups during lunch hours. For more information, call Amanda at 345-0451.
