The exhibit, "A Share of Honor: Virginia Women, 1600-1945," highlights contributions of American Indian women, black women and women of European descent during that period.
The exhibit was developed by the Virginia Women's Cultural History Project in cooperation with the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.
The exhibit ranges from Pocahontas to 20th century author Ellen Glasgow.
Mary Hill, director of the Salem Museum, has added some local artifacts to be on display with the exhibit while it is in Salem.
During April and May, the museum will feature "Pictures of the World: The Art of the Mapmaker."
The Salem Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
