John Bradberry hit a solo home run in the second inning, C.D. Polumbo hit a two-run homer in the third and Shannon Gray had a two-run shot in the sixth to pace the Terriers.
Kevin Davis, David Dunston and Chad Smith hit home runs for Cave Spring.
In Lynchburg, William Fleming opened its baseball season with a 6-2 loss to E.C. Glass at City Stadium.
Phillip Barrett went 2-for-3, and Desmond Lee went 1-for-3 and knocked in both runs for the Colonels. Fleming pitcher Greg Duncan went the distance, giving up seven hits and one walk and striking out two.
In Radford, George Wythe opened its baseball season with a 7-3 victory over Radford.
The Maroons had only six hits, but used two triples to score six times in the first three innings off Bobcats starter Ron Brittle. Mark Franklin held George Wythe to one run the rest of the way. Randy Blevins picked up the victory.
Third baseman Matt Linkous went 3-for-3 and shortstop Derek Englehard was 2-for-4 for Radford.
L.J. Hensel and Brian Smith combined to allow seven hits as Blacksburg edged Graham 2-1 in a season-opening baseball game for both teams in Blacksburg.
Greg Shockley's double drove in Hensel in the bottom of the fifth inning with what turned out to be the winning run. Hensel, Smith and Jay Safford led Blacksburg with two hits apiece.
In Bedford, Liberty used a 10-run fourth inning to blow past Rustburg 11-5 in the Minutemen's baseball opener. The game was called after five innings because of darkness.
Liberty trailed 4-1 entering the fourth, but a grand slam by Bill Chaffin and a two-run double by Jon Gordon turned things around.
Chaffin picked up the victory, coming on in relief during the third inning.
In Altavista, Staunton River opened its baseball season with a 14-5 victory over Altavista.
Left-hander Geoff Hill was the winning pitcher, holding the Colonels to three hits in six innings; at the plate, he had three hits. Jeff Woodford had three hits, and Dwight Orange and Derrick Barnes had two hits each for Staunton River (1-0).
In Ridgeway, Ut Thach scored three goals as Franklin County routed Magna Vista 12-2 in a windy boys' soccer opener.
Seth Gallimore and Rico Batista added two goals each for the Eagles. Andrew Tunnell and Saleem Street scored for the Warriors.
In Buchanan, Alleghany opened its boys' soccer season with a 2-1 non-district victory over James River in a cold rain.
Renato Boaventura scored in the first half and Sam Tortillo headed in a goal off a corner kick by David Hawes for Alleghany. Matt Smith, Shawn Mulligan and goalie Charles Faulkenburry paced the Mountaineers' defense. James River scored off a penalty kick in the second half.
