TEENS END REVIVAL WEEK BY BURNING TAPES, CDS

Nearly 100 teen-agers burned hundreds of cassette tapes and compact discs, ranging from heavy metal to country-western, that they have come to consider anti-Christian.

Howard Hamlett, a junior at Southall Christian School, brought about 250 cassettes and 20 CDs and tossed them into a bonfire Friday night. Including shirts, hats and other items, he figures he burned $3,000 worth of goods.

"I figured, just get rid of all of it, so I won't have the temptation," he said.

The bonfire ended a week of revival meetings at Westover Baptist Church, of which the school is part.

Kids stoked the fire with music stars including Madonna, Janet Jackson, Ice-T, Garth Brooks, Megadeth and Guns 'N Roses.
