ETC. UVA WOMEN UPSET IN LACROSSE

Second-ranked Maryland built a three-goal halftime lead and cruised to a 5-1 victory over top-ranked Virginia in a women's lacrosse game in College Park, Md.

Laura Harmon scored two goals and Sara Forbes had one goal and two assists for the Terrapins (2-0). Heather Goeheringer scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers (2-1), who trailed 4-1 at the half and never recovered.

Bo Williams won medalist honors and helped lead Washington and Lee to a fourth-place finish Tuesday in the Ferrum Golf Invitational.

Williams shot 76s for both rounds at the Water's Edge Course, finishing three strokes ahead of runner-up Scott Scovil of Christopher Newport. The Generals' Jimmy Kull finished third with a 156.

Greensboro won the team title with a two-day total of 637. Hampden-Sydney and Christopher Newport tied for second at 648. W&L shot a 649. Ferrum was fifth, Roanoke was ninth and VMI was 10th.
