Graham, who operates the Somethin' Fishy pet store on Main Street and has been instrumental in the opening of two other stores on either side of hers, had been named president of the Main Street board just this year.
``I cannot say why I quit, in all fairness to everybody concerned,'' she said Tuesday.
``I still indeed am very much for the downtown,'' she said. ``I'm just not the president. I have not resigned from the board.''
Vice President Alex Rygas will become acting president until the board acts on the resignation.
Graham's latest effort for Main Street was working with a Bland County couple on opening a bookstore in Pulaski.
She said the planned store would carry a full line of books, ranging from children's to popular novels and including volumes on history and antiques.
``It'll be on Main Street, hopefully,'' Graham said. ``That is one reason I'll drive to Roanoke, for a book.''
The other businesses in which Graham has played a major part are the Trail's End bike shop and New River Valley Racing Connection NASCAR collectibles store.
