WRECK VICTIM REMAINS IN INTENSIVE CARE

A Henry County woman who was trapped in a mangled car for more than an hour Tuesday after a wreck with a tractor-trailer, was listed in very serious condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Wednesday night.

Kathryn F. Scott, 49, remained in the neuro-intensive care unit, according to a nursing supervisor.

Scott's 19-year-old daughter, Sarah, who also was injured, was released from Roanoke Memorial on Wednesday, the supervisor said.

The collision occurred just before 10 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 220 in Roanoke near the Hunting Hills Plaza. According to police, the truck, driven by Randall Dye of Giles County, struck Scott's car in the middle of the intersection.

Police charged Dye, 42, with driving with faulty brakes.
