Old bikes needed

The Virginia Museum of Transportation is seeking vintage bicycles or bicycling equipment for a May 7-10 exhibit celebrating the sport. The exhibit will coincide with the Tour DuPont.

\ ShrimpFest '94

Roanoke Festival in the Park will present the Roanoke Valley ShrimpFest '94 on April 30 at the Salem Civic Center.

Fairgrounds open at 4:30 p.m. Unlimited quantities of shrimp, cole slaw and baked beans with beer, wine and iced tea will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The fest will be followed by the Atlanta Rhythm Section concert at 8 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Brown bagging and coolers are not allowed.

ShrimpFest tickets (including concert admission) are $20 per person and must be purchased by April 20 at the civic center box office, festival office, or from Kiwanis Club of Roanoke members. Concert only tickets may be purchased at the gate for $5.

Rain date for the ShrimpFest is May 1. Call 342-2640.

Lecture at Tech

Dr. Cornel West, director of Princeton University's Afro-American Studies Program, will lecture March 30 at 7 p.m. in Virginia Tech's Donaldson Brown Continuing Education Center auditorium in Blacksburg.

West is the author of the New York Times best seller "Race Matters."
