REPORTED EARNINGS

The Talbots Inc., Hingham, Mass.-based specialty retailer and cataloger of women's apparel with a store in Roanoke County, on Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $6.3 million, or 18 cents per share, up 53.7 percent from $4.1 million, or 12 cents per share, in the 1993 quarter. Net sales were $218.8 million, up 14.3 percent from $191.5 million.

For the year ended Jan. 29, net income rose to $35.2 million from $20.4 million last year. Net sales rose 14.8 percent, to $736.7 million from $641.8 million.
