ABINGDON - Gov. George Allen will be the luncheon speaker at the Southwest Virginia Business Forum next Wednesday at the Martha Washington Inn.
Other speakers will include Michael K. Evans, president of The Evans Group, an economic forecasting and consulting firm with headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla.; political analyst Larry Sabato, professor of government and foreign affairs at the University of Virginia; and Marshall B. Wishnack, president and chief executive officer of Wheat First Butcher Singer.
The forum is co-sponsored by Emory & Henry College and Catawba Capital Management, a Roanoke investment advisory firm, to allow business leaders to discuss matters involving the economic vitality of the region and nation. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m.

Columbia/HCA completes deal
Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., Louisville, Ky., parent of Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, said Tuesday that it has completed its previously announced plans to develop a joint venture partnership with 359-bed Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. Terms of the deal, creating Central Louisiana Healthcare System, were not disclosed.
