General Manager Gail Calloway said the station offers around-the-clock family programming by the American Independent Network, including cartoons, movies, wrestling, comedy, home shopping, Hollywood updates and Charlotte Hornets games. The station will begin airing local news reports by Jan.1
``We're finding out that Danville is ready for its own TV station,'' Calloway said. ``Danville is important enough and large enough to have their own voice here.''
WDGR is owned by TMC Inc. Melvin Eleazer and Jim Pridemore of Washington, D.C., are the principal owners. They have owned the company since 1989.
Calloway said that by Monday, the station's studios at the Piney Forest Shopping Center in Danville should be complete. Then the switching and production operations will move in from their temporary quarters in Pelham, N.C.
The station employs about 10 people. Calloway said the staff will double by Jan. 1.
