NEW BLACKSBURG BRANCH LIBRARIAN STARTS WORK

Pamela Cadmus took over Thursday as head librarian at the Blacksburg branch of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library.

Cadmus had been manager at the Jessie Peterman branch in Floyd County, said Library Director Karen W. Dillon.

Cadmus replaces Dora Furr, who is retiring at the end of the month.

The Blacksburg branch, at 400 Draper Road, is scheduled to undergo a major renovation and expansion within the next year. Montgomery County voters last year approved the sale of $1.9 million in bonds to pay for the project. But the library will supplement that with a $109,000 federal grant and money from a fund drive to be kicked off later this year.
