New restaurant

PULASKI - A third restaurant in a three-block section of Pulaski's Main Street will open Monday.

That's when Phyllis Proffitt and her oldest son, Darren McGlothlin, will open Granny's.

The new restaurant will occupy the building that previously housed Gaynelle's and Sonny's restaurants, both of which eventually closed. It will join the Renaissance and the Main Street Cafe.

Proffitt said she has been in the restaurant business for a long time, chiefly in the Richlands area of Tazewell County. ``I've been doing it since I was 15,'' she said.

She described Granny's offerings as country cooking with a variety of sandwiches and desserts. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Her husband, Randy Proffitt, operates RP Collectibles across the street where he recently moved into expanded quarters.
